Autism & technology

For anyone out there who knows anyone with autism, this is a great article on how technology might help them. I know it has helped my son.

The article is entitled “How Technology Has Changed the Face of Autism” by Dan Tynan over at Yahoo! Tech.

Enjoy!

Support local business

I’ve always been someone who believes in supporting local businesses in your community and in this case, I’m referring to local business in the autism community. I recently received an donation e-mail from Autism Speaks and the hook in this case was the young man Joe Steffy, a man with autism.

Turns out he was here in St. Louis recently but I missed him. I hope he comes back because he sounds like a great guy. Meanwhile, you can read more about him on his website here.

Sincerely-

Best Buddies

I got to think about this organization tonight because my son got the chance to hang out with a friend of his from school. It reminded me that I need to check out Best Buddies. It’s a group created to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities create friendships, develop leadership skills and gain employment.

I e-mailed them a couple of weeks ago and I need to print up the handouts they sent me. I’ll keep you posted.

Sincerely-
