Different perspectives

So tonight’s article is one I stumbled upon over at Scientific American while reading another one. The article is entitled “Ask Me First: What Self-Assessment Can Tell Us about Autism” by Daisy Yuhas.

As the father of a young man with autism, I’ve often felt that I usually have a good feeling of knowing what he’s thinking. After reading this article, I’m thinking that perhaps I need to make sure I get and understand his perspective a little better. Definitely an article I need to read again.

I have to say that not a day goes by when I don’t wonder what he’s feeling. I must admit however that little by little I feel like I’m making my way through his mind and what he’s thinking. Turns out I’m not the only one asking questions.

In the article entitled “Kids With Autism Describe Their Sensory Experiences” by at Science of Us, there was a study done recently in which twelve kids with autism where asked about their feelings. Check it out at BPS Research Digest (courtesy of the journal Autism).

Thank you!
