This is an everyone thing

So while at work today I came across this article that really struck a cord with me as I continue to learn about my daughters struggles with anxiety and panic attacks. The article is entitled “Everyone is Going Through Something” by Kevin Love over at The Players Tribune.

The article itself is really just about life and what the author has gone through, be it anxiety, panic attacks, depression or perhaps something else. One thing that I’ve come to believe over my journey, is that we all have a disability, just sometimes it’s not always so visible.

I remember one time during a visit to the hospital back when we were trying to find out why my son was having seizures (he was later diagnosed with epilepsy), he was in a room with a young man who had lots of tubes as he was lying in his bed.

I think it was there in that hospital room where I learned that everyone is going through something and equally important, sometimes we all need a little help. I’ve also learned, it’s okay to ask for and get help.

Mind experiment

This is definitely a topic that needs to be not only discussed but addressed, mental health. In my case I’m talking about a couple of my kids and anxiety. If you want free counseling and therapy, apparently England is the place to be.

This according to the article entitled “Mind Experiment by Benedict Carey over at the New York Times. Well worth the read.

Mental health

As the father of an adult with special abilities, I feel I’ve become much more aware of those around me when I see like people. So when I read this about this CEO’s post on the issue of mental health with his employees, I thought I need to post it.

The article is entitled “It’s 2017 and Mental Health is Still an Issue in the Workplace” from the CEO Ben Congleton at the company Olark. So here’s hoping this way of thinking spreads.
