Parent support

So last week I went to a parent support group meeting, put on by St. Louis Arc (a local group) and I have to say, it definitely reminds you when you think things aren’t going well, someone has it worse. It also reminded me that sometimes we have to get a bit creative when helping to support our kids.

In fact, it was there where I came up with the idea to teach a cooking class for kids like my son but to take it one step further. To help them start from making a list to purchasing the food to actually cooking the meal.

Just a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine who works at a local grocery store, told me they had a cooking class for kids like my son last year but this year, couldn’t find anyone to teach it.. So when we were talking at the support group, I came up with the idea. Now I’m waiting to hear back from my friend. We’ll see what happens.

Sincerely-

Grocery shopping

So yesterday my oldest son and I went grocery shopping. Usually my daughter goes with me but I thought this time would be a good chance to take just him and talk a little bit about what we see, what we need and what he likes.

Unlike most times, this time I purchased a few things that he wanted, like things for his lunches at school and what he would like to have at home.  We also got the chance to just talk, without the interruption of his brother or sister. In other words, just good father and son time. Sometimes you just need that.
