The Mighty

So one website that I visit and share articles from frequently is called the The Mighty and it’s also one that I’ve been meaning for a while now to submit an article to but now that they have a new way to share with others, I might finally find time to do just that.

Anyway, for anyone who has taken this journey, one of the best ways to find support is by sharing with others who have been on that same journey. Tonight’s article, entitled “Inside the Mighty: Two New Ways to Help Each Other” by Mike Porath, talks about  in great detail. So check it out. I plan too, just not tonight. It’s way past my bed time.

Prom

So tonight’s article is simply about some good people doing a nice thing for some special kids. The article is entitled “Police Officers Served as Prom Dates for These Special Needs Teen” by Erin Donnelly over at Yahoo! We need more stories like this in the world these days.

On the road

With my son on the road to one day finding a job, I came across this video on Facebook about a woman who started a company which hires people with special abilities.

The video is entitled “Special Needs Brewery” and can be found over at the 60 Second Docs Facebook page. As I have no doubt mentioned before, the thought of starting my own business has crossed my mind more than once.

Autism & hockey

Okay, something I haven’t mentioned before I’m sure, but I’m a big hockey fan and so when I read this article over on the National Hockey League’s website, I knew I had to post it.

The article is entitled “McAvoy Surprises Special Needs Kids with Hockey Gear” by David Satriano. Both of my son’s and my daughter are hockey fans, so this article was a very nice surprise to fine.

I’m always amazed how much NHL teams and my own St. Louis Blues as well, are involved in their communities. My youngest son and I went to our first game just last week, and while they lost, we still had a great time.

What the world needs now…

Is more kids like Alex Jackman (and as the song goes… love sweet love). I think in a way this is a great article to follow up my previous post on siblings but this isn’t just for siblings, it’s for everyone. We all need to get out there and get involved.

The article is entitled “The Autism Activicst” by Sandy Fernandex over at the Scholastic magazine Choices. The way we do this is one person at a time.

An amusement park for everyone

Talk about inclusive. A gentleman down in Texas created an amusement park that is designed for those with special needs but welcomes everyone. You can read about it in the article “Amusement Park for Those with Special Needs Set to OpenBy
