Two in a row

I actually had a chance to go out and take pictures, two days in a row. The first day my oldest went over to his best friends house where they played some Nintendo NASCAR game for like three hours. The other day, he had to work. While I had some battery issues with my camera on the second day, I must say it felt good. In fact, when I got in my car to go home on Sunday, I was listening to a local radio station and discovered a new song to then download on my phone. It was one of those moments where you learn it’s all about perspective.

To help him I need to help myself

I know I’m doing more around the house but, I think I need to do more for myself. I’ve been doing a little more reading and that’s good. I’ve been writing a little more and that’s good too but, there’s more that I want to do. I want to try to do more with my photography and art. The first thing I need to do is finish my artist biography and statements. That in turn will allow me to try and get my photography out there. I could make a list here but I also know it’s one step at a time.

Back in the saddle

So the other day, my oldest and I had an appointment with his Goodwill Representative to once again, start looking for another job and I must say, the meeting went better than I expected. While I like his last representative, his new one got me a little more excited. He seemed to have a few more contacts in the automotive area, where my son is hoping to find that next job.

A ride in the car

So while my oldest and I haven’t done anything car related for a while now, be it a car show or a NASCAR race or Monster Truck show, we finally got the chance to go to the St. Louis Car Show downtown yesterday. In fact, while I was researching when and where it was, I also found out that the St. Louis Arc European Auto Show is coming up in June. So I guess we’ll be doing two of them this year. At least the St. Louis Arc one is much closer to where we live. Vroom, vroom. That’s my attempt at the sound a car makes.

Blinded

Now recently, one set of the blinds in our living room suddenly locked up a couple of weeks ago. We could open or close them but, they wouldn’t go up or down. This happened a while back with the other set of blinds in our living room. Somehow, I was able to fix those but, this time I couldn’t remember how I did it. So, imagine my surprise when my oldest called the other day to tell me he had fixed those blinds. I’m so proud of him.

Recovery

I have to say I had a busy but, fun weekend with two of my sons. I went with my youngest to go pick up a record player we purchased at a recent estate sale. After that, we went to a couple of music stores to buy both some cds and records. Then my oldest and I went to an antique store, mostly so I could see if they had any records, which they did and it turned out that my oldest bought a plane he’s been wanting to get from there for a while. I also managed to get a fair amount of sleep over the weekend, which I definitely needed, so I think it’s safe to say, I’ve recovered from the holidays.

Enjoying the moment

So I finally got around to helping my oldest do online shopping for some movies he’s wanted to get for a while. On top of that, he’s got for days off from work now, so he can relax. I also got the chance to talk to his new job coach and he actually may have a lead on a new job possibility, working at an place that changes oil on cars. He said they actually work in teams and that might just work out. I guess we’ll have to see.

Holidays

This was definitely a rough holiday season for me. While I can sit here and list several items that played a role in that, I don’t know there was one thing that played a bigger part than anything else. That said, I feel like I’ve made it through the holidays, now I just hope to take a breath and relax.
