Racers, start your engines

So in a couple of weeks, I’m taking my oldest and my youngest to the Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR race, something I truly never thought I’d see. That said, over the weekend I finally got our race tickets and parking pass downloaded. I also got our rental car all ready to go. Now we just wait for them to start their engines.

My oldest

So as I try to say thank you to that mom who motivated me to start this blog, I also need to say thank you to my oldest. After all, he’s the reason I continue on this journey and he’s also part of the reason that I am who I am. I wouldn’t be here without him. Over the last few days, I come to see how much he’s grown up.

Thank you!

Thank you for being a friend

So when I first started this blog, I was going off the idea of someone else who was sharing her story about her son with autism. What I’ve been doing for the last few minutes is trying to see if I can re-trace my steps to find her and thank her for being a friend. She has no idea how much she has helped me. Meanwhile, I’ll keep looking.

Birthday boy

It’s hard to believe that come tomorrow, my oldest will be 25 years old. It’s also hard to believe that he’s spent nearly half his life with me, something I never saw coming for him or for me and as hard as it’s been at times, I wouldn’t trade this time for anything.

Happy Birthday!

Baseball season

So the other day I had someone like an earlier post of mine entitled “Special abilities, half way around the world” and after visiting her baseball blog, I thought I would pass it on here. The blog is entitled Sophia’s Baseball Blog.

As a young lady with autism, I wish her nothing but, the best. Sounds a little like my oldest and his love of NASCAR. In fact, he wrote a few articles for a NASCAR website back when he was in high school. I need to go back and find that website. He’s mentioned he would like to do that again.
